2014 – looking at the year in the rear view mirror

It has been an incredible year – I said I wanted 2014 to be an adventure and it has been so much more than I could ever imagine.  I know I haven’t blogged in a while and it is definitely something I would try to do more in 2015, but thank you for all the support this year!

So to end of this year here are a few things that I have learned on my journey:

  • Don’t be afraid to have dreams – have a lot of them and dare to dream BIG, it will be worth it.
  • Dreams can change – embrace it.
  • Things don’t always go as planned.  No, sorry let me rephrase that: Things seldom go as planned but don’t let it scare you or hold you back.
  • Invest in well plucked eyebrows.
  • Also never trust someone with badly plucked eyebrows.
  • Just because a guy is dressed fabulously does not make him gay, and just because he isn’t dressed fabulously doesn’t mean he’s not gay…  It’s a horrible stereotipe – stop it!
  • Also just stop judging people – it’s their lives not yours.
  • Watch out for the good guys, they will hurt you when you least expect it.
  • All parents screw up their children (House).
  • Don’t listen to anyone that says you can’t, because you can if you really want to.
  • You  will get over it, eventually, it will take time, don’t rush it.
  • It will also take longer than you thought.
  • There is always something you can learn – just keep your eyes and ears open.
  • People can’t be trusted, not even “good” people. But sometimes you still have to do it.
  • Drink a lot of water.
  • Talk to the people you love – and really listen to them.
  • Life is about so much more than just working and studying. So go out and have some fun.
  • Death will surprise you.
  • Saying goodbye will never be easy.
  • Sometimes leaving people and the past behind will be the best thing you can do.
  • You will make mistakes, that part of life is inevitable, just like taxes, death and change.
  • Eventhough you consider someone your friend doesn’t mean they are.
  • You will meet a lot of new people, but you will also lose a lot of them.
  • Friendships don’t last forever, but some actually do.
  • People cheat and people lie more often than not.
  • Life is what you make of it.
  • Change really is good, even if it’s scary.
  • You can’t go through life alone, ask for help it won’t kill you.
  • Stop caring so much about what other people think.
  • Most importantly: Invest in yourself.

Have a good NYE and a blessed new year!
